Situated on Barkly Street in Footscray West, Dosa Hut might seem like a simple, unassuming restaurant from the outside. But for us, and even our loyal fans across Australia, this is so much more than the best Indian restaurant in Footscray. After all, it is the place which popularized the Dosa culture in Australia, and has been the starting point for an ongoing journey of deliciousness.Our story
Dosa Hut was born of a dream, fuelled by passion and love for authentic Indian food. Founded by Anil Kumar Karpurapu and Praveen Indukuri, telecommunication students from India and foodies at heart, the Dosa Hut story is no less than a fortunate accident.
Back then when they were students, there weren’t too many South Indian restaurants around, and both Praveen and Anil would travel long distances to satisfy their craving for Dosas. After a few years of doing this, they decided to start off their own food venture, specializing in authentic South Indian food. From our humble beginnings in 2007 when we were primarily a South Indian restaurant, to becoming the fastest growing Indian multi-cuisine restaurant chain in the country, it’s been an interesting journey indeed.

Today, Dosa Hut has earned a reputation for being an affordable fine dining Indian restaurant in Footscray, serving an array of regional Indian specialties. Apart from a wide range of South Indian Dosas and Idlys, you can choose from delectable Biryanis and North Indian curries, Indo Chinese fusion food, Chaat street food, traditional desserts and even mocktails. It’s without a doubt, the widest variety of Indian food under one roof in West Footscray, making it rather easy to plan a multi course Indian fine dining experience, should you want one in Footscray. We are open 7 days a week from 11am – 10:30pm, so you could come in for brunch or a dinner and everything in between!
